my t-bird

this time, it's a real toy! a toy that looks like the real thing.
i stopped by a toy store near my place and this is what i opted for. and it has been with me for three days before i got a chance to take a shot at it. we were waiting for our bus in the parking lot when i thought of taking this picture.

new toy

i am excited...when i was in the mall and felt hungry, i chose mcdonald's and ordered happy meal (for the free toy of course!)..so i can start experimenting on my toy photography.  i got a black car, well, which looked like a real toy...but it doesn't matter..i'll bring it with me everywhere i go, and shoot, shoot, shoot..!

toy photography

i came across this website where they tell something about toy photography. it really is something new to me, in fact first time i heard of it. and i find it quite interesting. because i like photography (all kinds) and having toys as subjects made me like it even more. and i even read that you don't need to have a dslr to achieve the desired outcome. well, what i have is a canon digital cam, 7.1 mega pixels and that's all i can say of my camera's specs!  for me, canon means camera, and that's all i need. (biased)..

i was so hyped up by the article (blog) that i want to try it right away. problem is i don't have any toys lying around here (we're all adults here in the flat. adult toys don't count ok?) so i just grabbed some small items which i hope would pass for toys. anyway, anything small may be considered a toy, right? so i set them up and took a shot. here it is...

i call this pic - the clothespin family. :)

Soul food

I'm glad I have subscribed to Bo Sanchez's soul food.  I really feel enlightened every time I read his newsletter and his stories.  He's a very good story teller by the way, and he has lots!!
The latest one I read was about one's kindness, which means (as i understand it) not being judgmental towards our brothers.
This made me think of my friend way back in high school who got involved in some sort of a scandal, just recently, so i won't go into details here.
But I feel for her really. I wanted to talk to her, to tell her she has a friend here, and that everything will be alright in the end. But I can't, cause I don't know how I can get in touch with her. I just prayed that may she have the strength to go through it all.
In all these years, I think i have gained the understanding of why people do the things they do. I always seek for the reasons (however unreasonable) which might have driven them to do such things...for i know, in my heart, that they will come to realize the faults of their choices..
like I did. :)

my goal..

this is not something big.. it's just something i set for myself so i could focus on it...like my light at the end of the tunnel..you see, i am overworked (?!) right now, by that, i mean, i can no longer log in in FB in my office computer. (haayy..)
i am doing tons of paperwork in the office, but our project is only up to may 4th..and since the structure will (needs to be) finish(ed) on that date, the paperworks will take like 25 days to finish..so  roughly that will be on the 30th..
tsk tsk... so i'm starting early, i'm organizing my documents so that it won't take me that long to submit my paperworks..my goal is to go back home by the 15th, or the 20th at the latest!
wish me luck! :)

foggy morning

These were taken yesterday morning at around 6:15am while I was on my way to the bus stop. This means the cold days will soon be over and we'll soon be welcoming(?) humid days and the scorching heat. Lunch break will be for 3 hours (at least for site people) for the 2 summer months (July & August) because here, it's against the law to work outside from 12-3pm when the heat is at its worst.

True enough, the sun was up early this morning eager to shed its rays on the desert sands....Welcome summertime!:)

scam

Since I've been surfing the net almost every night, I may have entered my email add in some sites and some people may have seen this as a chance for a rip-off.  Tsk! tsk!..In two days, I have received separate emails from my two 'friends' (one from each each day) saying that she was stuck in a hotel in London, robbed of everything and may i please send her 1450pounds through Western Union which in the current situation is the best choice?
The first one was written in Tagalog, which was the literal Tagalog translation of the second.
Hear this - on the second letter, it starts with 'Hello. How's everything on your end?...'
The first one read - 'Hello. Paano's lahat ng bagay sa iyong dulo?' Har har!!
Really! What are these people thinking?
Good I didn't have the money. :)

my neighborhood

This is where I live right now..
Madinat Zayed in Abu Dhabi. I live on the 5th floor and right across the street is a grocery store where we buy our groceries from rice to bread to toiletries, etc. On the ground floor is the meat shop where we go for bulalo, fruits and veggies next door, where I first bought zucchini, (yummy!!), and the next building houses a Filipino store, where I buy bagoong, argentina corned beef and boy bawang...:)

P.S.
I later learned that it was not zucchini after all.  But it really was yummy.
