December

I came home last night happy and excited because one of my prospects said yes to my business!

She will be joining my team by Christmas.  What a perfect Christmas gift!

Soon, on Thursday actually, 11 December, our office in Abu Dhabi will be opening so this means I can ask people to come every day!

I am really excited about these new things happening in my business.  I hope good, marvelous things will happen through the next year.

Come Thursday, I will be having a colleague join me in the opening.  I hope he sees this as a good opportunity and joins in too.

Looking forward to more business partners this month and through to 2015!!!!

UNO Titan's Christmas Party

We are in a Muslim country so obviously, Christmas is not celebrated around here except when Christians and/or Filipinos gather together and enjoy good food, fun, and each other's company.

Our group in UNO, the Titans, held our Christmas party last December 5 at the Hilton, Abu Dhabi.  The food was great, all were Filipino dishes from chop suey (ok, Chinese), pancit canton (ok, Chinese again), fish fillet, chicken bbq to beef mechado, with fresh fruits and cakes for dessert.

Everyone was dressed to the nines for the masquerade ball theme.  There was even a Mr. and Ms. UNO of the night.

Christmas presentations were staged from all the five subgroups of the Titan family.  Our group, the Titans-Falcons, presented a dance number to the tune of Feliz Navidad.  Unfortunately, we did not win.

But more than the prize, it was the fun, laughter, and the whole experience which made that night enjoyable.   Everybody had a great time.

The night was filled with fun and laughter and positivity.  This is what you get when you mingle with network marketers.

I bought a bath towel for my exchange gift.  We formed a big circle, sang the "Ang Pasko ay Sumapit" while passing our gifts to our right.  Whatever gift you end up holding when the song finishes is yours.  And guess what was inside the nice paper gift bag I got? Surprise - a bath towel!!!

Today is my birthday.

On here, I want to say a prayer on this day:

Dear God,

First of all, I want to thank You for the gift of life.  Thank You for all those years of blessings and trials which made me who I am today.

Thank You for all the love and  grace You have showered upon me although I felt at times that I don't deserve them.  Thank You for Your faithfulness, for never giving up on me.

Thank You for all the people who are, had been and will be in my life.  I know You allow them to be here as part of Your plans for me.

Thank You for teaching me to let go of all the doubts, worries and fears.

Thank You for the strength that sustains me everyday that I am away from my loved ones.

Thank You for all the blessings coming my way.
Thank You for all Your miracles.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.

UAE National Day

This holiday is celebrated every December 2nd but maybe due to week-long holidays around that date, only for government entities in our office building but not for us (*sigh...), they decided to hold it in advance.

The first one was held last Monday, 24th, hosted by the Insurance Authority.

Of course, I wouldn't pass up on this.  I went downstairs to the building grounds where the festivities are held.

Their special guests were children with special needs.  It was like Christmas.

The highlight of my day was when I held the falcon.

The second celebration was hosted by Aldar, the number one developer here in Abu Dhabi, and who owns the building where we are now.  It was celebrated yesterday, the 26th.

This time it's more festive because there was a parade, and a band, more people joined in and there were lots of freebies too.  I enjoyed taking pictures and posing for the cam too!  This is also the first time I tried the henna tattoo.

I felt like a child again enjoying the feast going on around me.

Loved it!

Happy 43rd National Day UAE!!!

Be in the present

http://www.clker.com/clipart-26098.html
This is what I need to be practicing all the time - being in the present, being in the moment.

Have you ever experienced riding the public bus and missing the bus stop where you're supposed to get off?

How about missing your stop at the metro train?

I have, twice missing the same bus stop.  And once in the metro.  Because while I was on the bus or the train, my mind was also traveling elsewhere!

The first time I missed the bus stop, I was not really familiar with the place I'm going to.  I have been there only once so this is only my second time.  My fault is, I should have looked out for landmarks the first time I went to help me on my return!

The second time was I was on the phone while we were approaching my bus stop.  So I missed it again.  Clearly, I'm not the multi-tasking type!

On the metro train, I was listening to two ladies chatting that's why I missed my station he he.  Not that they were talking about some world issues, they were talking about passport renewal!

So I needed to make a return trip, either by walking or taking the train again.  Not to mention, I lost some time doing so.

What lesson did I learn from these?

When you are going to your destination or shall we say reaching for your goals, focus!!!  Don't let trivial things distract you.  Be in the present.  Be aware.

Some situations in life we may consider unimportant or even funny.  Yet there are lessons we can get from them.  Lessons we should apply in our lives especially if they can make us better versions of ourselves.

And this I am trying to do right now.  Trying to see all the colors around me, being aware of all the noise, the smell, the feel, but not losing focus on where I am going.

A Gift

http://www.motivationmanifesto.com/step-1?autoplay=1

I'm so excited about the gift coming my way.

It's a book by Brendon Burchard which he offered for free except for the shipping cost.

I hope I get it in time for my birthday.

Updates

I don't know what to write about...
There are so many things happening in my life right now I don't know where to start.

I recently rejoined the Dance Ministry of our LOJ Family after months of laying low.  The ministry members have grown in number and there are a lot of better and younger dancers now!  Their energy and enthusiasm are so infectious that I was drawn back to the ministry to praise the Lord through dance again.

And then there is my business.  I thank God I am not loaded in my work right now I can focus on my business.  This business really entails a lot of hard work, patience - with your prospects and partners as well-,  and a lot of learning too.  Sometimes, I feel as if I don't have enough time to do all the things I should do.

It's quite frustrating when things don't work out as per my expectations, true, but I know I shouldn't dwell on them.  I'd just sit back, take stock of things and move on.

And move on I do.

So enough of these ramblings.  Better get to work to accomplish the things I set for today.

Daily motivation

Found a gem on youtube.com.

This is the first time I heard of Les Brown.  I first saw him in one of Eric Worre's videos.  Since I joined network marketing, I constantly watch Eric's videos to learn more of the tricks of the trade.

When I chanced upon Les, I got hooked!  His motivations are just what I needed.  My day is not complete anymore if I don't listen to his talks.  I even take notes so I get to read some lines whenever and wherever I can.

Just like what Zig Ziglar, another great motivator said:

They're back!

Well, my long wait is over!  My favorite shows are back on air.  The Voice and The Walking Dead.  I now have something to look forward to on nothing-to-do nights.

My two favorite shows are alike in some ways, actually.  The Voice makes me smile and laugh out loud with Adam Levine and Blake Shelton's bickering.  It also gives me a feeling of suspense because you never know who's gonna go or who's staying...or gonna be stolen.  Each contestant also has his own story to tell, and they find common ground in music - to face their hurts, overcome their sufferings, have hope for their future.

The Walking Dead, on the other hand, gives me a feeling of suspense.  Like I'm holding my breath in every scene because you never know who's gonna be bitten by the zombies or killed by the living.  Each character has his own story to tell, and they find common ground in their quest for survival.  Together, they faced their hurts, overcome their sufferings, and gave each other hope.

Newtons's Laws of Motion ...and Life

Just crossed my mind...

According to Newton's first law...
An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force.  An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.  This law is often called "the law of inertia".

In life-

Most people are afraid of change.  They will keep on doing what they have been doing unless something different, something mind-blowing, or sometimes something life-threatening happens to them.  People will stay in their comfort zones unless pushed by some people or circumstances which if they allow will leave them unhappy, unfulfilled, regretful, and miserable...or so they think because there is within us the fear of the unknown..

According to Newton's second law...
Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass.  The greater the mass, the greater the amount of force needed.

Everyone knows that heavier objects need greater force to move.  So our actions in life are dependent on our moving force.  There is always a reason why we do the things we do.  Or why we don't do the things we should be doing.  And what drives us out of our comfort zones is our biggest why - our moving force.  So think of what motivates you to do something out of the ordinary.  Once out of your comfort zone, there's no telling what you can accomplish.  Remember, extraordinary effort brings out extraordinary results!

According to Newton's third law...
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

It means that when you use force to push an object,  there is an equal force pushing it back.  This does not mean to discourage you to think that whatever you do will be met by resistance.  I would put it to mean that the resistant force is there to balance things out - an equalizer.  The weight of your dreams equals the hard work you need to put in to realize them.  The greater the dream, the harder or smarter you need to work for them to come to fruition.

There are things we have learned in school that got buried deep in the farthest recesses of our brains because we thought we'd never use them anymore as we advance in our lives.  We thought we don't have much need for these school stuff taught in our younger years.  We didn't know there are nuggets of wisdom we can apply to our lives and make us think things over.  If we could only refresh our memories, untangle our brain webs, who knows what life truths we would find in say, algebra?

I need a lift

A male colleague who drives me to and from work everyday is having some issues.  He finds that at this point in his life that he should be in a better place, with regards to his work and his finances.  Reality is, he's way down under.

And depression sets in, he says, as he thinks about these.

He voiced out these things to me during the ride.  I just sat there and listened to him speak of his frustrations on life, on his self as a provider, on his career which has become stagnant for a number of years now...

There was nothing I could say that might lift up his spirit.  There was nothing I could say to boost his morale.  Because I felt he was saying things I could not verbalize to myself.  What he said were the exact same things I am experiencing.  How can you lift someone else when you yourself are heavily burdened?  I just sat there and listened.  I guess that was just what he needed.

But the good thing is, he sees hope, he is aware that he needs to do something and not just sit around and wait for things to happen.  He saw an opportunity which he knows will carry him through his crisis.  He knows he needs to do something.  He has many reasons to fight and win his battles.

It's good that the monologue ended on a positive note before I got off the car.  There's still some positivity left in that man.  And without him knowing it, he lifted my spirits up.

Still on Positive Thoughts

I did not finish my Positive Thoughts Challenge.

I have only gone up to day Two, when it's supposed to be up to seven days.

Well, all the positivity I can think of and share with everyone else I have already compressed in two days.

Aside from the fact that the people I nominated (I think) never took on the challenge, I ran out of people to nominate!

But more than anyone else, the posts I created are for me - to keep me afloat, to keep my hopes up, to hold on and never give up on my goals.

I still have a lot to do, still have a long way to go.  So thinking of these positive thoughts give me the strength and the will to stay focused and overcome my fears.  Yes, I still have some.

In my business, it's very important that I keep my positivity because there are lots of rejections, negativities and indifferences encountered.  So I always think of reasons to be happy and smile about.

And that's the key.  Fill your mind with happy thoughts and withdraw some when you need some.

Something borrowed

Been to the first anniversary of my networking company in Dubai.  It was a formal affair so naturally, we were in gowns.

Fortunately, I have friends from whom I can borrow stuff because I decided to come at the last minute.  And how I love that slit!

Day 2 Positive Thoughts Challenge

CHOOSE

Our life is made up of choices.  From what time we want to get up in the morning, what food to eat for breakfast, and even what mood to wear throughout the day. So choose what type of day you want to have.  The choice is all yours.

Choose to be happy.

DECIDE

When you decide on something, stick to it.  Especially when it comes to your choice of being happy.  There's no perfect day.  Just be happy with it's imperfections.

STAY

Stay happy.  Stress will just make you ugly.

My Fave TV Series

I don't know him.  All I know is that he's a detective of Scotland Yard with Dr. Watson as his sidekick.  And the famous line "Elementary my dear Watson!"
I have never read a comic strip of his adventure (or maybe I have...how come I know that famous line?).  Yeah, maybe I did, maybe it was so long ago I don't remember any storyline at all.

Then came a recommendation from my son to watch the series.  It's a modern-day Sherlock making use of today's technology to solve crimes and of course, the forever help and perspective of Dr. Watson.

I got hooked on the first episode so I downloaded the full three seasons and watched an episode a day.  An episode lasts for an hour and a half, much like a movie.  That's why there are only three per season.  I always look forward to getting the day done so I can watch another episode at night in the comfort of my bed.

Sad to say, tonight will be my last episode.  I don't know yet when it will be aired again.

Guess I'll just have to wait.  Just like how I'm waiting for "The Voice" and "Walking Dead".

Day 1 Positive Thoughts Challenge

KEEP SMILING!

No matter how you feel, no matter what you are going through, no matter where you are, keep smiling!

You never know who needs it most. You never know what a smile can do.
So keep wearing that smile and give it away to everyone. :)

KEEP TRYING!

Even when circumstances seem to pull you down, just keep moving forward.  Your true strength will come out when you are tested the most.
Sabi nga, PUSH mo yan 'teh!

KEEP BELIEVING!

Set your mind on your goal.  Visualize your dream.  Believe that you can make it happen.
Pray.  Simply believe.

A New Challenge

Recently, there has been a challenge which went viral on the net, Facebook especially, about ALS awareness.  It's a challenge where people are made to pour ice-filled water on themselves and donate $$$ to the research on ALS cure.  Then they challenge their friends to do the same.  Last time I look, the challenge has raised more than 90M dollars!  What a fun way to raise awareness and funds for a worthy cause.
Then came another one in FB, among my friends especially.  I don't know who started this but right now, I am nominated.  And this is how it goes:
I need to put three inspiring and positive posts on my FB wall for seven days, and I nominate three friends each day to do the same!
I think this is an incredible way to inspire others that's why I accepted the challenge!

I think this is also what prompted me to go back to my blog.  I will post them here first before FB, because this is where I let my mind wander freely without fear of judgment and ridicule.

So, off I go to my first positive thought for today! See you on my next post!

On and Off

How many times have I done this?
Sometimes it takes so much time before I get back to my blog.  I get preoccupied with some other things.
My last post was about a job interview and it happened a long time ago I completely forgot which company it was as I am writing this blog!  So you guessed it right.. I didn't get it.
And there has been one other call since then but sad to say, we did not agree on the package.  I cannot lower my package because I know how much I am worth! :)  It's their loss ha ha!!
Anyway, there's one more email I received from an HR executive in Doha but when she tried to phone me, I was on the phone with a friend!  Talk about timing!  I don't know if she'll call again.  But I am not very optimistic about new jobs right now.
My favorite boss was recently terminated from our company and I really felt bad.  Since he left, i felt like I am in limbo.  It dawned on me that all my work depended on him!  Since his replacement came, he has not oriented us yet on our new roles.  That's why i have a lot of time in my hands right now.
I ask forgiveness from my company for using my company time in some other things  he he...at least until my new boss hands me down things to do!!
I just pray that he realizes that I can help him and that he needs me. :)

PS to job interview

Well, I did not make it.
But I'm not bitter.  Maybe, I'm better off where I am at right now.
I am still learning a lot in my new post, courtesy of my new boss.
If only the rumors about salary raise is true!
I will be having second thoughts of leaving.
But I'm not yet done...
I filled up a job application online to a company's website and I'm quite happy the HR emailed me the next day and asked for my CV and my salary expectation.
Well, tell the truth, it got me excited.  It has been a week though and never heard from them again.
i will follow-up tomorrow and hopefully, (fingers crossed) the result is positive.
But whatever the outcome is, it will never deter me from trying.
God has a plan I know, I just need to poke Him a little from time to time I guess. :)
